Nike has opened 6 Community Stores across the US, that help them to just do good.

All Community Stores have a target of hiring 80% of employees, aka store athletes, through local channels, and from a five mile radius of the store.

Nike are giving local grants and incentives that promote sport and well being, while store athletes are also encouraged to help out with local non-profit organisations.

The stores are bringing something new to Nike and the neighbourhood. They offer different design details and product offerings, but you can still expect the same things you’d get in main Nike stores, such as customising items using NikeiD and being able to sign up for Run Club community events.

Studies have proven that active children develop strong leadership skills and do better in school, so Nike are also using the stores to get down with the kids.

The Brooklyn Flatbush store was the fifth to open, and can be found in the intersection between Brooklyn’s culture and Manhattan. Nike is using the store to host athletic activities with Brooklyn’s Eagle Academy students, and to execute the Zoom League basketball programme.
