Designer Hayden Peek has proposed a way to make us more aware about what we’re putting in our mouths, and in our trollies.
To find out the nutritional info of what you’ve just bought, all you’d have to do is take a peek at the bottom of your receipt.
The idea is that all the nutritional data from everything in your shop would be tallied up, and displayed at the end of your supermarket receipt.
The information would be presented using the traffic light system already in place on food packaging in the UK. Sections for calories, sugar, fat, saturated fat and salt, are coloured green (low), amber (medium) or red (high), based on how much bad stuff there is.
Applying the concept to your weekly shop is an easy way to indicate if you’re good at choosing healthy options, or if your diet has some room for improvement.
