Hold the phone. To celebrate its 250th anniversary of abolishing censorship, Sweden has become the first country to launch its own phone number.

When you call up, you’ll be connected to a random Swedish ‘telephone ambassador’ (tx for calling James).
The idea, which came from the Swedish Tourism Authority, proves that the country has no hang ups.
Callers can ask about anything, with suggested conversation starters ranging from “northern lights, meatballs, politics, skiing, love, hiking, feminism, snow, gay rights, parental leave, suicide rates, the Nobel Prize, technology, crime novel, darkness, fashion… anything.”
